Ford has been recognized as a 'B' school by the Arizona Department of Education for the 2023-2024 school year!
#TeamTUSD: Diana Means

So, when her students started attending Ford, she started volunteering at the school. Soon after, she became part of the staff. Since then, she’s held a variety of jobs but is now the library assistant. The last 31 years of working at Ford have passed fast, but Diana has no plans of leaving any time soon.

“I mean, I just love it,” Diana said. “The library is a great fit for me because it’s something I love. I get to see all the kids, get to work with all the kids and it’s just something I can still do as I get older.”
#TeamTUSD: Christine and Sergio Pizarro
Sergio and Christina Pizarro

Christine and Sergio Pizarro are a mother-son duo working at Ford Elementary. Christine has worked for Tucson Unified for 15 years, but this is her first year at Ford – at the request of her son. Sergio was already at the eastside school, but told his mother Ford could use another teacher like her.

“I came to love the school,” Christine Pizarro said. “I don’t know why I wasn’t here before, but he’s the reason why I’m here at this location.”

And by some stroke of luck, the two actually ended up being put together in the same classroom.

“It’s actually really enlightening,” Sergio Pizarro said. “She’s helping me grow to become a better educator, and I’m really grateful for it.”
