School Photos - Bicycle Safety
On September 26th, select classes at Ford Elementary were selected to participate in a bike safety presentation and activity, hosted by Safe Routes to School. Students first learned the proper way to wear and secure a helmet – and each of them got to keep the helmet given to them for the session. Then, students were split into two groups: those new to cycling and those who already knew how to ride a bike. The advanced riders were able to learn how to switch gears, how to properly brake, how to stand when going down hills, and more!
School Photos - August Award Assembly
On September 27, Ford Elementary held its first Award Assembly of the school year. Parents and families were invited to be present for their students’ success. The awards given to students from each class were: “Life Skill,” “Academic Achievement,” “Most Helpful,” and “Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn!” The older grade levels also got to listen to Student Government President Candidate Alex give a speech as to why he’d make a great president. Congratulations to our Ford Panthers!
School Photos - Bear Essential News
On September 13, Bear Essential News’ Stephen Gin made a stop at Ford Elementary with a mission: to recruit young journalists. The editor and publisher talked to third and fourth graders about journalism, how his publication gets made, and how to find stories. Bear Essential News is a publication that targets young readers, families and classrooms. Students from third grade and up can sign up to become a student reporter and have their work published in Bear Essential News. Good luck to any of our students that choose to take on the profession!

Meet the Teacher
The Ford Panthers had a fun back-to-school gathering on Thursday night, which included warm greetings and hugs between staff and students. The Ford Ice Cream Social allowed students to meet their teachers and get their classroom assignments while enjoying an ice pop or ice cream sandwich. Ford Elementary is accepting registration for new students now.
Meet Steve Smith, a beloved crossing guard at Ford Elementary. You might recognize him from his 20 years coaching baseball at Tucson High Magnet School; now, his favorite part of the job is simply "hanging out with the kids." Thank you for keeping our community safe!
